Seated in front of the screens of their respective computers, Prince William and the singer Shakira have held a virtual meeting around the creation of the Prize Earthshot by the grandson of Isabel II.
The Earthshot award has been created with the aim of uniting the best minds, the best solutions and giving them momentum to end environmental problems Most important in the world. The prince has explained in a interview that “the next ten years are critical to materialize change.”
The award will have an endowment of 50 million pounds sterling, approximately 55 million euros, which will be aimed at facilitating at least 50 solutions to the world’s biggest environmental problems by 2030.
To award the prize, the prince will have the help of a Council formed by the Reina Rania Al Abdullah (Jordan), actress Cate Blanchett, Christiana Figueres, former director of the Framework Convention on Climate Change, footballer Dani Alves, David Attenborough, Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim, Indra Nooyi, Jack Ma, Naoko Yamazaki, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the singer Shakira and former basketball player Yao Ming.
In the conversation, Shakira and the English prince have addressed the issue of the climate issue and the importance of awareness of the younger generations. “I think it is something that must be addressed by everyone, every child, every school, every teacher,” said Shakira.
The Colombian explained that your children are very aware with the care of the environment. His eldest son, Milan, began to wonder about the climate crisis when he was five years old and, now, he tries not to waste available resources.
