Seven dead, one critically injured in Half Moon Bay shootings; suspect in custody.
At least seven people are dead and one person is critically injured after shootings in two locations in Half Moon Bay, California. Dave Pine, President of the San Mateo Board of Supervisors, and San Mateo Sheriff Christina Corpus confirmed the details. Deputies found four victims dead and one wounded upon arrival at the first location, and soon after, three more dead victims were found at a separate site. The suspect, a 67-year-old man who lives in Half Moon Bay, is in custody and a semi-automatic handgun was found in his vehicle.
The motive is still unknown, however, officials believe the suspect acted alone and the community isn’t under threat. Gov. Gavin Newsom said he was at a hospital meeting victims of the Monterey Park mass shooting when he was “pulled away to be briefed about another shooting. This time in Half Moon Bay.” Tragedy upon tragedy,” he tweeted.
Half Moon Bay is a city in San Mateo County, located 28 miles south of San Francisco. It is a popular destination for tourists and visitors, known for its beaches, coastal trails, and historical sites.
The shooting in Half Moon Bay is the second mass shooting in California in the last week. On Saturday, 11 people were killed at a mass shooting in Monterey Park. The two shootings have left a total of 18 people dead, and have shocked the state of California.
The people of Half Moon Bay are in shock and mourning after the tragedy that has taken place in their city. The community is in need of support, and the victims and their families are in need of justice. The state of California and the country as a whole are in need of answers and solutions to prevent future tragedies like this from occurring.
