Formula 1 returns to the Nurburgring after a seven-year hiatus, and the 11th stage of the season will be the Eifel Grand Prix. Ferrari drivers have won the modern version of the track six times, but Scuderia won eight more victories in the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife, which hosted the German Grand Prix until 1976.

Now the circle consists mainly of medium-speed turns and several straight segments, so the aerodynamic body kits of the cars are adjusted based on the average level of downforce. There are also ups and downs on the track – in accordance with the relief of the area.

Twice Formula 1 races at the Nurburgring were held in October, but that was a long time ago, in 1984 and 1995, and the weather is expected to be quite cold, conditions may change during the weekend, which promises additional difficulties for teams and drivers, in particular, it will not be easy to warm up the rubber.

Sebastian Vettel: “We are returning to the Nürburgring and it was a pleasant surprise, considering that there was no such race in the original version of the calendar. Of course, I am very happy to play again in Germany in front of German fans.

The last time we performed on this track was in 2013, and I have good memories of that race. In addition, the Nürburgring has an interesting configuration of the circle, the turns there are mostly slow and medium-speed, therefore, it is necessary to achieve good grip of the driving wheels of the car during acceleration.

Since we travel to the Eifel Highlands in October, it can be expected to be quite cold there, so it is imperative that the tires work efficiently. I foresee that we will have to fight again in the middle of the peloton, and literally every hundredth of a second can affect the final result, so no little things should be overlooked during preparation. “

Charles Leclair: “At the beginning of the season, I could not imagine that we will have to race again at the Nurburgring. I have never driven a Formula 1 car there, so I am very interested to see how the turns of this circuit are perceived while driving a car that generates such downforce.

Weather can have a significant impact on the course of the weekend. From the experience of previous performances on this track, I remember that clouds always hang over the Eifel mountains. Conditions can change very quickly and finding the right approach to tires is also very important. Let’s see what we can achieve. “
