Sergio Scariolo, Spanish basketball coach and assistant coach of the Toronto Raptors, said goodbye this Monday via Twitter from Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka, who will head to Los Angeles, the first to play with the Lakers and the second, with the Clippers.
“The team and I will miss Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka, great companions and decisive factors in the championship that we won. Two great destinations and beautiful challenges ahead: I hope they have all the luck their talent and work ethic deserve, “said the Italian coach on his personal Twitter account.
I/we will miss @MarcGasol and @sergeibaka , great teammates and critical factors in our Championship win. Two great destinations and beautiful challenges in front of them though: hope they will get the luck which their talent and work ethic well deserve!!!

The path of the two players under Scariolo was full of success. With the Spanish team they were 2011 Eurobasket champions and with the Raptors they won the NBA title in 2019. That year, the Italian coach and Gasol were also world champions in China.
Now their destinies are parted. Marc Gasol will follow in the footsteps of his brother Pau, legend in the Los Angeles franchise, with which he was proclaimed NBA champion, and will join LeBron James and company in search of his second ring.
Serge Ibaka moves to the other California City team, the Los Angeles Clippers, in which will reunite with Kawhi Leornard, a player with whom he managed to lift his first ring as NBA champion with the Toronto Raptors.
