The inhabitants of Paris and its suburbs have taken this Wednesday a monumental scare when at midmorning they heard what sounded like a big explosion.
After a few moments of confusion, the police of the French capital have clarified on the social network Twitter that the loud sound has caused it a fighter breaking the sound barrier. The Prefecture has also asked citizens not to collapse telephone lines.
A very loud noise was heard in Paris and the Paris region. There is no explosion, it is a fighter jet that has crossed the wall of sound.

According to sources cited by AFP, the fighter has broken the sound barrier to come to the aid of a device in difficulty. “A Rafale (fighter) from the base of Saint-Dizier (east) in real intervention to provide assistance to an aircraft with which contact had been lost has been authorized to break the sound barrier to reach the plane in difficulties, “Air Force spokesman Colonel Spet told the agency.
