In October 2018 Samsung had the luxury of introducing the Galaxy A9 (2018), the world’s first smartphone with a quad camera. And about two years later the South Korean manufacturer would be preparing to launch its first Galaxy with an additional lens on its back. According to rumors and leaked renders, the Samsung Galaxy A72 it would have a five-fold camera.
Although the Galaxy A72 would be the first Samsung smartphone to have a five-fold camera among its technical specifications, it is not the first phone on the market with these characteristics. That privilege goes to Nokia who in February 2019 presented the Nokia 9 PureView from which we are still waiting for a successor.
Rumors about the Samsung Galaxy A72
As we can see in the leaked illustrative render shown above, the Samsung Galaxy A72 would nuclear the lenses of its quad camera in a rectangular compartment where its respective LED flash would also fit. Adding to this illustration the South Korean site The Elec He was in charge of contributing rumors about the characteristics of this camera.
It seems that the Samsung Galaxy A72 would have a quintuple camera with a 64MP main sensor in a wide angle lens, a 12MP sensor in an ultra wide angle lens, an 8MP sensor in a telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, a 5MP sensor on a macro lens and a 5MP sensor on a depth lens.
In other words, to the traditional configuration of quadruple cameras with wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle, macro and depth lenses, the telephoto lens would be added, which is usually reserved for the most powerful models of each manufacturer. And if the rumors are correct, this wouldn’t be the only first time you’ll be charging this midranger.
If the rumors are correct, in addition to being Samsung’s first smartphone with a five-lens camera, the Galaxy A72 will be the first device in the Galaxy A series to feature Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) among the specs from your camera. Samsung has high expectations in its Galaxy A72 and Galaxy A52 and it shows.
