2020 has been a difficult year for big phone manufacturers like Samsung and Huawei. And 2021 is not expected to be any rosier either.
Samsung has big plans in the near future, and if the beginning of autumn was marked by the launch of the new generation of iPhone 12, it’s time for the South Koreans to enter the scene. The competition does not necessarily come from the Americans from Apple, however, but rather from the Chinese from Huawei.
For this reason, Samsung is looking to deal with the Asian company and, in order to increase its market share to the detriment of Huawei and to defend itself from competition from Apple, the company would like to launch the new premium model of the Galasxy S generation earlier.
This is also because, at the moment, the ranking does not seem favorable to him.
Samsung would do anything to surpass Huawei
Although the Chinese do not make public their sales data, independent market research shows that in the second quarter of 2020, the South Korean group Samsung lost its leading position right in front of the Chinese. Samsung delivered 53.7 million devices, surpassed by Chinese company Huawei, which sold 55.8 million units.
It is the first time in nine years that a company other than Apple or Samsung has dominated the smartphone market, Canalys reports. Things changed later, but the panic did not go away.
It is true that the pandemic affected everyone, but not to the same extent: Huawei’s sales fell by 5% between April and June 2020, compared to the same period in 2019, while Samsung reported a decline of 30%. Traditionally, South Koreans present their new models at the beginning of the year – end of January
So, the new Galaxy S21 must be launched at the same time, but this deadline could be brought forward. South Koreans would like to launch it a month earlier, in December, according to sources quoted by Reuters. The information has not been officially confirmed by the manufacturer.
