Despite being in the middle of a pandemic, government of Rio de Janeiro gave the endorsement so that samba schools of that state reopen their facilities after eight months, and one of them was the mythical school of Portela.
With a celebratory meal and the classic dish of bean stew, the group dedicated a minute of silence for the 162,269 people throughout the country, of which 20,905 in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
“We are returning today, but very cautiously (…) We want the people of Buenos Aires to return safely, “Marcio Emerson told Efe.
Similarly, there is hope that the traditional carnival can be celebrated, which, although it will not take place in February, it is still hoped that it will be postponed to take place in June or July, although it depends largely on arrival of the vaccine.
“We have the expectation that there will be carnival, we are working with the hypothesis that it is simply postponed. We are expecting the vaccine to arrive and to celebrate the carnival later, but celebrate it, “Lucia Mariana Sales, the school’s flag bearer, told Efe.
“It is very sad. We think of the people who make a living from carnival, artists who produce all year long to be able to place a school on the avenue. Your work has been affected by the pandemic“Lamented Emerson, another member of the emblematic school.
