Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 100th goal for Portugal on Tuesday evening. The Juventus attacker opened the score in the Nations League game won 0-2 on a visit to Sweden. In the same group, France was too strong for Croatia 4-2.

France beats Croatia in reprise World Cup final

Ronaldo shot a free kick of more than 20 meters in the top left corner just before half time. Shortly before that, Sweden was confronted with ten men by a second yellow card for Gustav Svensson.

Just twenty minutes before the end, Ronaldo was again accurate in Stockholm. He placed the ball from the edge of the box nicely in the top right corner.

For Ronaldo it was his first international match since November last year, when Portugal won the European Championship qualifier against Luxembourg (0-2). Then he also scored. Last Saturday, the 35-year-old star player missed the Nations League game with Croatia (4-1 win) due to a foot injury.

Ronaldo first found the goal for Portugal at the 2004 European Championship, when he made the connection goal in the group match against Greece (1-2 defeat). He is the first European player to reach the milestone of 100 international goals. Only the Iranian Ali Daei (109) was more accurate.

In Paris, France won in a reprise of Croatia’s last World Cup final. Dejan Lovren gave the visitors the lead with a slider, after which ‘Les Bleus’ quickly turned the deficit shortly before half time via a ticker by Antoine Griezmann and an own goal by Dominik Livakovic. The goalkeeper turned Anthony Martial’s shot into his own goal.

Ten minutes before half time, Josip Brekalo brought the Croats alongside again, after squeezing through the French defense. Dayot Upamecano (header) and Olivier Giroud (penalty) still gave the world champion the win and ensured that the match ended in 4-2, just like the World Cup final.

France and Portugal both recorded their second Nations League victories. The winner of the first edition of the tournament takes the lead thanks to a slightly better goal difference.
