Williams Acting Team Leader Simon Roberts spoke to Racefans about the goals and objectives of the new owners from Dorilton Capital …
Simon Roberts: “The people at Dorilton are great to work with. They are good people, smart and open-minded. It was impossible to wish for the best. They have a long-term vision, they know what they are aiming for, and they understand that it will take time. They didn’t just come with money and a desire to invest. They are interested in long-term investments, but every pound invested must be justified.
A partnership with a strong team? We have a close relationship with Mercedes, they supply us with power plants. Whether this partnership will be extended, what our future relations will be, is not yet decided. We are negotiating a strategy for our cooperation. But importantly, Dorilton doesn’t want Williams to become a client team.
Dorilton understands what we do. They will not build a car for us, but they are ready to help in everything. The team needs to do their job. And we have everything you need for this. In the past ten years, many departments have experienced a lack of funding, but they still work. Now you need to lay the groundwork, make things work as they should, and get some success.
No revolutions, shocks or major changes are planned in Williams. You just need to put the right people in their places and continue working. “
