In the debut work by writer and screenwriter Darius Marder, titled Sound of Silence, Riz Ahmed is a drummer who becomes deaf.
The last time we saw Ahmed Rice, alias Bodhi Rook of Rouge One, was in the cinecomic Venom, in which he was the villain Carlton Drake. Starting November 20, viewers in US theaters, followed by subscribers to Amazon Prime Video from December 4, will see him in a film that could bring him a major prize. In Sound of Metal the actor is a drummer who goes deaf. To direct it is Darius Marder, screenwriter of Like a thunder of Derek Cianfrance. It’s the same Cianfrance got the idea for the film.
Sound of Metal garnered considerable reviews during the 2019 Toronto Film Festival, and critics were impressed by the performance of Ahmed, who took 6 months of drum lessons and learned Sign Language. The film was shot in just 4 weeks and, initially, instead of Ahmed Rice and its co-star Olivia Cooke there had to be Dakota Johnson and Matthias Schoenaerts. The secondary characters are played by Lauren Ridloff e Mathieu Amalric.
Of Sound of Metal the trailer has just been released, which we will promptly show you, not before having revealed the official synopsis of the film.
