At Núñez’s club, they expect him to be in good condition in the first months of 2021.
The works on the playing field of the Monumental stadium progress relentlessly: there is no longer grass or running track. A video that River uploaded to its social networks shows the rapid action of the backhoes that in just a couple of days left the field without grass and already began to lower the level of the ground.
“It hurts to see the court like this, but it will be beautiful,” was one of the many comments added by the publication. “What I would give to have a little piece of grass,” sounded another fan.
The idea is known: change the grass and lower the level of the court by about one and a half meters and then be able to work in the stands, an issue that has not yet been scheduled.
It is estimated that they will remove 30 thousand cubic meters of earth, to later install a drainage system of napas with a forced pump and thus ensure that the playing field is not flooded. Sand and a draining layer of tosca will then be added to consolidate the foundation of the next-generation hybrid turf, which will be cooled and heated to avoid turf path transitions in fall and spring.
With the aeration system, it will be possible to have an optimal temperature in the root zone during the winter and summer months with its heating and cooling functionalities, which will avoid seasonal deterioration of the playing field and will be able to stay in optimal conditions and be sustainable throughout the year.
This new system is similar to the one implemented in the stadiums of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United, among many other great clubs in the world. It is recalled that in several passages of his cycle, coach Marcelo Gallardo complained about the poor conditions of the Monumental.
After this first step, a single tunnel will be made for local and visiting players and the referees to come out. All that work will cost 177 million pesos. In principle, between February and March it will be in conditions for River to act as a local in Núñez.
