Renault Racing Academy member Oscar Piastri won the Formula 3 title in his debut season. After the finish of the race in Mugello, the factory team of the French auto concern congratulated their pupil.
Oscar Piastri: “I am very happy to win the Formula 3 title! The season turned out to be fleeting, but not the easiest, but today I did everything necessary to guarantee the title.
The race was chaotic. I had a good start and saw Logan Sargent get off, so I knew right away that I would be ahead of him in the championship. Not that I wanted to win against him, but this is part of the race. Theo Purscher was fast, so I had to attack to match his speed and win back as many positions as possible.
I am very glad I won the title! I want to thank Prema Racing for their hard work throughout the season, thank the Renault Racing Academy for their support and my sponsors. We are ready for a new challenge. “
Cyril Abitebul, Managing Director of Renault Sport Racing: “I congratulate Oscar on a great victory in the championship and winning the title! I am very proud of the Renault Racing Academy and our selection of young riders.
The title won increases the credibility of our program, including the European Formula Renault. We made sure that this series provides an opportunity to see the potential of the riders. Renault is determined to help develop young talent and we look forward to moving forward with a renewed commitment to sport. ”
