At the Eifel Grand Prix, Pirelli will bring the most frequently selected three tire formulations of this season – C2, C3 and C4. The head of the Pirelli auto racing division, Mario Isola, commented on why such a choice was made for the Nurburgring.
Mario Isola: “In fact, the Nürburgring is a new track for us. At least, we use the same approach when we first come somewhere with Formula 1, although we know this track very well from many races in other championships. In order to take into account all possible scenarios for the development of events, we will bring the “average” three compositions, which are excellent for various features of the German track.
The weather will probably be the main factor of uncertainty – low temperatures and rains are quite possible at this time of the year. As a result, teams will have to deal with unusual conditions on the track, which they do not know very well. Thus, in the upcoming race, among the favorites will be those drivers and teams who can quickly adapt to the new situation.
I guess it’s fair to say that we are preparing for a race with many variables. It is not excluded that during the weekend we will see all five trains, not only slicks, but also intermediate ones with rain, which we will bring to the stage. “
