QDI launches upgraded product for ultra-fast NGS analysis, LightSpeed technology for $1/genome, WES for less than a few cents per exome.

Qiagen Digital Insights (QDI) has announced the launch of an upgraded product for ultra-fast next-generation sequencing (NGS) analysis. The Qiagen CLC Genomics Workbench Premium software removes a bottleneck associated with NGS, allowing for faster analysis and interpretation of whole genome sequencing (WGS), whole exome sequencing (WES), and large panel sequencing data. This product incorporates LightSpeed technology, a software accelerator that quickly converts raw sequencing data into interpretable lists of genetic variants.

Using this new technology, labs can run WGS analyses for approximately $1 per genome and WES for less than a few cents per exome using cloud infrastructure. Alternatively, the Qiagen LightSpeed technology can be run on existing local hardware with similar performance. This cost and time efficiency gives high-throughput NGS sequencing laboratories the chance to use the technology widely for clinical and research clients.

LightSpeed technology is suited to NGS areas such as neonatal screening for hereditary diseases or large population-genomics studies, where speed and cost are priorities. By quickly spotting unwanted mutations, associated diseases can be identified and treated more quickly. QDI believes this will have a positive impact on patient care and clinical outcomes.

QDI’s upgraded product for NGS analysis is a major advancement in the field. By reducing the cost and time associated with NGS analysis, this technology can be used more widely in clinical and research settings. This will help improve patient care and clinical outcomes by allowing for faster identification and treatment of diseases.
