PSV coach Roger Schmidt does not have a good word for the KNVB. The football association refused to move Sunday’s home game against ADO Den Haag, even though the Eindhoven team had submitted multiple requests to do so due to the many corona cases.
‘They make decisions that are incorrect’
“I think our situation is very special because we have so many corona cases,” said Schmidt FOX Sports. “In the past four games, we always had two new infected players. We will be tested again on Monday and new infections may be revealed.”
PSV missed no fewer than thirteen players against ADO. Nine of them are infected with the corona virus. Jorrit Hendrix and reserve goalkeeper Vincent Müller tested positive this weekend and joined a row with Denzel Dumfries, Cody Gakpo, Pablo Rosario, Joël Piroe, Maxime Delanghe, Timo Baumgartl and Nick Viergever.
“The KNVB knows that”, Schmidt grumbled. “They say we still have enough players to play every three days. I don’t think they know anything about football. They need 17 hours to determine that we have to play.”

On Saturday afternoon, after the test results, PSV made a last attempt to postpone the game with ADO to December, but the KNVB rejected that request on Sunday morning. The Brabanters also have a busy schedule, because the away match in the Europa League against PAOK is already on the program on Thursday.
“They don’t know about how to prepare a squad,” Schmidt continued. “They sit at home and make decisions based on the rules, but they don’t make sense. They don’t care about our situation and the health of the players and staff. That’s my impression.”
Despite the many corona infections, PSV won 4-0 against ADO. Noni Madueke scored twice and the other hits came in the name of Eran Zahavi (penalty kick) and Ryan Thomas. Thanks to the victory, Schmidt’s team occupies third place in the Eredivisie.
