PSV has to make do in the away match against Vitesse on Sunday due to corona infections without captain Denzel Dumfries, Cody Gakpo, Pablo Rosario, Timo Baumgartl, Maxime Delanghe and Joël Piroe.

Gakpo, Rosario and Delanghe already tested positive on Wednesday and were missing from training this week. Dumfries and Baumgartl did come into action on Thursday in the Europa League match with Granada (1-2), but have recently been tested positive, just like Piroe.

With Eran Zahavi and Jordan Teze, two PSV players appeared to be infected last week. The striker and defender will resume training with the Eindhoven team this week and should be able to play against Vitesse.

PSV is not the only Eredivisie club that is struggling with an outbreak of the COVID-19 virus within the selection. AZ missed no fewer than thirteen players who had tested positive in the Europa League game with Napoli (0-1 win) on Thursday. Many other clubs are also – albeit to a lesser extent – ravaged by the pandemic.

The match between Vitesse and PSV starts on Sunday at 2.30 p.m. in the GelreDome and is led by referee Bas Nijhuis. With a victory in Arnhem, the team of trainer Roger Schmidt takes over the lead in the Eredivisie from Ajax.
