The General Directorate of Health of the Portuguese Government has reported this Saturday of 849 new cases of coronavirus and five deaths posted in the last 24 hours.
These figures represent a daily maximum that had not been registered from the peak of the first wave, at the end of March, although deaths are much more controlled.
In total, since the beginning of the pandemic, the Portuguese Government has registered 68,025 infections and 1,899 deaths, while the number of recoveredreaches 45,404, after adding 351 in 24 hours.
There are 20,722 active cases in the country493 than on Friday, while there are 497 hospitalized patients, 32 more than 24 hours ago. Of those, 67 are in intensive care units, seven more than on Friday.
Lisbon and the Tagus Valley continue to be the most affected region, with 439 cases, 34,825 in total. Four of the five deaths included in the last bulletin correspond to the North zone and one to Lisbon and the Tagus Valley.
