Currently, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 has an alternative model named Snapdragon 865+ that has not been much considered by the manufacturers of flagships. New rumors, however, indicate that before the end of 2020 we will see another variant announced: Qualcomm would launch a Snapdragon 870 in a smartphone of OPPO.
We already know that Qualcomm will be presenting its first premium processor with 5nm technology on December 1 and it is estimated that its nomenclature would be “Snapdragon 875”. It makes sense, therefore, that the Snapdragon 870 is launched with that nomenclature, presenting itself as a kind of economic model of the SD875.
The Snapdragon 870 would be a variant of the Snapdragon 865
All this information was filtered by the user Digital Chat Station in the social network Weibo. For those who do not know this personality, they should know that his history of leaks is extensive and sufficiently accurate to take into account the mention of said Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 in special consideration.
According to its sources, it would have a high-performance core that would have slightly raised its working frequency with respect to its predecessor, the Snapdragon 865. From 2.85GHz the Snapdragon 865+ has taken it to 3.1GHz and, finally, the Snapdragon 870 would have a core running at a frequency of 3.2GHz.
The most relevant detail of the processor will be to reveal its process technology. Being a variant of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 it would make sense for the SD870 to launch with 7nm FinFET technology. But if we are to be guided by its name, perhaps this is more related to the Snapdragon 875 and, therefore, it would make more sense for Qualcomm to use 5nm FinFET technology.
In any case, Qualcomm would launch a Snapdragon 870 that OPPO would have the privilege of making its debut on board one of its smartphones. Perhaps it is time that before the end of 2020 we get a new OPPO Find demonstrating the power of the next generation Qualcomm chips. But everything is yet to be seen.
