Goalkeeper Gaëtan Coucke leaves Racing Genk for KV Mechelen, where he has signed a three-season contract with an option for another year, the club announced on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old Coucke started last season as number one with the Genkies, then the reigning champion, to replace the injured Danny Vukovic. After some mistakes – including in the Champions League – Maarten Vandevoordt was preferred in the Genk goal, later on in the season Thomas Didillon was hired from Anderlecht. Now that Vukovic is back from injury, Coucke was allowed to leave the club.
At Malinwa he has to compete with Yannick Thoelen. For KVM, Coucke is already the third addition for the coming season, after Jordi Vanlerberghe and Rocky Bushiri.
