PlayStation 5 will be backward compatible only with games of PlayStation 4, or at least with the vast majority.
It is something that was communicated to us officially when Sony shared the specifications of the next generation console.
Later, the company reported through a statement posted on the official PlayStation blog that the new generation console would be backward compatible with almost all games PS4 and that only 10 would be left out.
But now Ubisoft has published a statement to inform that nine games from your catalog they will also not be playable on PlayStation 5.
In the statement the French company said ‘Most our previous game catalog will be backward compatible between current and next generation consoles, with a few exceptions. That means you will be able to play your Xbox One games on Xbox Series X | S and your PlayStation 4 games on PlayStation 5 ‘.
But about the exceptions, Ubisoft was specific and they are all concerning PlayStation 5.
The note of the company reads On Xbox Series X | S all of our Xbox One games will be backward compatible. In PlayStation 5 all games will be backward compatible except the following:
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate
Assassin’s Creed Chronicles Trilogy Pack
Assassin’s Creed Chronicles India
Assassin’s Creed Chronicles China
Assassin’s Creed Chronicles Russia
Star Trek Bridge Crew
The company does not provide reasons about the impossibility of those titles being backward compatible with PlayStation 5, but surely it is due to a critical error that prevents them from running.
As well points it out The Spanish, Sony has already anticipated that on PlayStation 5 errors are likely wanting to run a PS4 game.
‘When playing this game on PS5, it is possible that produce errors whatever you experience one unexpected behavior and that some functions for PS4 are not available ‘, is the warning of the Japanese company.
