The Swedish Academy, which was ravaged by scandals, awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature on Thursday.

The award goes to an American poet this year Louise Glückille.

The award was praised for her written expression and its “rugged beauty”.

There was little daring to bet on the winner in advance. The Academy has often awarded the prize to a surprising party, such as the 2016 American rock legend To Bob Dylan.

Last year, the prize was awarded to an Austrian short story writer Peter hand trowel. His election provoked fierce criticism because he is known as the Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic as a supporter of the wars in the Balkans and a disparagement of human rights abuses committed by his army.

In the widespread scandal facing the academy before that, a man of one member Jean-Claude Arnault was convicted of rape. Due to the scandal, the award of the 2018 Nobel Prize had to be postponed, for the first time in the history of the Academy.

Three other Nobels shared

Earlier this week, the Nobel Prizes in Medicine, Physics and Chemistry were awarded. It is also the turn of the Nobel Peace Prize and the Nobel Prize in Economics.

The Nobel Prize in Medicine went to the Americans Harvey Alterille and Charles Ricelle as well as the British Michael Houghtonille finding hepatitis C virus.

The Nobel Prize in Physics was won by the British Roger Penrose, German Reinhard Genzel and American Andrea Ghez black hole research.

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to a Frenchman Emmanuelle Charpentierille and to the American Jennifer A. Doudnalle genetic engineering research. The invention makes it possible to modify the DNA of animals, plants and microorganisms very precisely, he says CNN.
