After several years without a battle on the high-end smartphone front, Motorola He returned to the ring this year with the Motorola Edge +, a smartphone with the design and features necessary to compete with the flagships of other brands.
However, some points of the Motorola Edge + were questionable and a somewhat excessive price together with not so powerful cameras and a more attractive offer from the competition undermined its great return.
Now, a new report ensures that Motorola will try again early next year with a new smartphone, which is internally referred to as “Nio.”
In accordance with Technology News, Motorola prepares this new smartphone that will use a Snapdragon 865 processor and Android 11 from the factory, identified with the XT2125 model and which will debut in the first quarter of 2021.
The choice of processor is curious, since Qualcomm will soon launch the Snapdragon 875 as the most powerful chip to date, but it is not surprising if Motorola seeks to position the new smartphone with a more attractive price.
The new Motorola smartphone will also have 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. As for its screen, it will use a Full HD + panel (1080 x 2520 pixels) with a 90Hz refresh rate, although it is unknown if it will use the same panel with curved edges as the Motorola Edge series uses or if it will be a flat panel.
As for its cameras, Motorola will use in its future flagship a 64MP OmniVision OV64B sensor as its main lens, with a 16MP ultrawide camera using an OV16A10 sensor from the same supplier, and a third 2MP OB02PB lens for depth information.
The front camera will be dual with a 16MP main lens with OV16A1Q sensor and an 8MP secondary lens using the S5K4H7 sensor, this time from Samsung, and will be located in the front, supposedly under the perforated screen.
