British musician Morrisseylooking for a new label “willing to spread their music” after being “dumped” by German label BMG, reveals a statement on the artist’s website.
The message explains that the new management of BMG, which has stars like Kylie Minogue, Dido or Lenny Kravitz, “he doesn’t want another Morrissey album”, despite the success, he points out, I am not a dog on a chain last March.
A spokesperson for the British subsidiary of the record company has confirmed to Efe what Morrissey’s contract to release three albums “has ended”, although the company will continue to “work with the team” of the musician to promote the works that it still has in its catalog. “We wish him the best in the next chapter of his career,” says the music label.
According to the statement on the Morrissey website, the new managers of BMG they want to promote “diversity” among their artists and have “canceled” all planned releases and re-releases by the former Smiths frontman.
“This news fits the galvanic horror perfectly” that it is 2020, says Morrissey, who in recent years has caused controversy with his opinions on issues such as emigration or the extreme right. “We would be critically insane if we expected something positive,” he adds.
