A total of 53 nursing homes in Catalonia they are in a serious situation of coronavirus, which represents 5.1% of the 1,048 in the community. According to data from the Department of Health, there are ten more nursing homes than last week qualified with the Red color.
The Department has classified the residences by color: red for those that have not yet controlled the epidemic, yellow for those who have positive cases of covid-19 but are stabilized, and the verde for those who do not have any infected person.
The vast majority of Catalan residences, specifically 937, are virus free, which corresponds to 89.4%. Even so, reports EFE, there are 58 more nursing homes (12 more than last week), which have infected people but they are controlled cases in the stabilization phase.
This classification is updated every week in order to regulate the visiting schedule to residents, some 55,000 throughout Catalonia. This week nine people have died from covid-19 in Catalan residences, which adds up to a total of 4,027 deaths not counting deaths in hospitals or social health centers.
The most affected regions
The sanitary region Metropolitana Sur is the one with the most residences, a total of 21, rated in red, followed by Barcelona with 12 and the region North Metropolitan with 7. In Girona and Lleida there are five and four respectively.
Current situation of geriatric residences in Catalonia
According to data from the Health Department, the situation this week is as follows:
Alt Pirineu and Aran: 13 in green and one in yellow.
Barcelona city: 243 in green, nine in yellow and 12 in red.
Camp de Tarragona: 56 in green, two in yellow and another two in red.
Catalunya Central: 92 in green, four in yellow and one in red.
Girona: 99 in green, nine in yellow and five in red.
Lleida: 68 in green, one in yellow and four in red.
Metropolitana Nord: 231 in green, 11 in yellow and seven in red.
Metropolitana Sud: 117 in green, 22 in yellow and 21 in red.
Terres de l’Ebre: all in green, a total of 18.
Total: 937 in green, 58 in yellow and 53 in red.
