Nicaragua has been going through a crisis in the political-social situation since 2018, and this Saturday they reported 30 opposition people arrested for demonstrating, in different areas of the country, against government of President Daniel Ortega.
“Today a serious situation of siege, intimidation, persecution and arbitrary arrests has been reported, by the dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, against members of the Civic Alliance for Justice and Democracy, in different parts of the country & rdquor ;, expressed the leader of the organization, Max Jerez.
Among the detained persons of a group, approximately 60 kilometers south of Managua that the police had tried to avoid during the first hours of this Saturday, are: the executive director of the Civic Alliance, Juan Sebastian Chamorro; the leader of the Blue and White National Unity, Felix Maradiaga; the leader of the Peasant Movement, Medardo Mairena; the president of the Democratic Restoration Party (PRD), Saturnino cerrato, and the president of the Nicaraguan Democratic Force (FDN), Louis fley.
As of last Wednesday, the number of “political prisoners” in Nicaragua was 104, of which 94 were arrested or recaptured in the last two years, according to Blue and White Monitoring. Likewise, the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) has denounced that this number is higher, coupled with deaths and disappearances that have not yet been confirmed.
