Mitel to acquire Atos Unify, expand UC and collaboration reach.

Mitel and Atos have announced a proposed deal for Mitel to acquire Atos Unify, the UC and collaboration businesses of Atos. The deal would strengthen Mitel’s position across multiple geographies and expand its reach as a global UC and collaboration competitor. It will also boost Mitel’s ability to address the evolving communication needs of global businesses through on-premises, hybrid, and private cloud solutions.
Once combined, Mitel’s customer base will increase to more than 75 million users in more than 100 countries, and its global channel community to more than 5,500 partners. This will give partners access to flexible communications models for their customers, coupled with global partner resources. The deal will also add managed services to Mitel’s repertoire.
The two companies did not disclose the financial terms of the deal, which is still subject to customary regulatory approvals. The two companies expect the deal to close during the second half of 2023. Mitel CEO Tarun Loomba will serve as president and CEO of the combined company, and additional members of the management team will be selected from both companies during the closing period. This deal will create a larger UC and collaboration space, and provide Mitel with the resources to pursue and win UCaaS opportunities.
