Vivianne Miedema reached a milestone at Arsenal on Sunday. The attacker scored her fiftieth league goal in the game with Tottenham Hotspur and is the first player to reach that number in the Women’s Super League.
The 24-year-old Miedema already had the record after seven minutes. She signed for the 2-0 at the request of Daniëlle van de Donk.
Miedema, who is also the all-time top scorer in the Orange Women with 69 goals, also made the 4-0 and 5-0 in the first half and has now scored 52 goals in the English women’s league, which was founded in 2011.
The Dutch has been playing at Arsenal since the 2017 season, which took her over from Bayern Munich. In her previous 35 league appearances, she had already scored 49 goals for the London club.
Arsenal eventually won the game against Tottenham Hotspur 6-1. In addition to Miedema, who was replaced halfway through the second half, Caitlin Foord scored twice and Katie McCabe was accurate once.
Thanks to the victory, Arsenal is still without losing points after five games. The team leads with two points ahead of Everton and Manchester United.
