One of these days, confirmation of the participation of Mick Schumacher in the youth tests in Abu Dhabi as part of the Haas F1 team, scheduled for December 15, is expected.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, this may be announced even before the Bahrain Grand Prix. Miku this weekend at the autodrome in Sahir has important tasks to solve: he must consolidate his leadership in the individual Formula 2 standings in order to increase the chances of a title. Two stages before the end of the season in the youth series, he is ahead of the nearest pursuer, Callum Ilott, by 22 points, but there are still four races ahead, on which a lot depends.
At the end of September, Mick already took part in the tests that the Ferrari Racing Academy conducted for its listeners in Fiorano: then he, Ilott and Russian racer Robert Schwartzman piloted the Ferrari SF71H, a 2018 car.
Mick was also scheduled to do Friday’s training session behind the wheel of an Alfa Romeo at the German stage of the championship held in October at the Nurburgring, but this was canceled due to bad weather.
The December tests with the Haas F1 are very important, as the American team is also expected to announce the roster for next year after some time: there are persistent rumors that we are talking about the debut in Formula 1 Mick Schumacher and young Russian driver Nikita Mazepin, after ten stages of the season, occupying 6th place in the F2 individual standings – he has the same points as Shvartsman (140), but one less victory.
