Before the stage in Mugello, Max Verstappen spoke about the characteristics of the track and his expectations …
Q: You are already familiar with Mugello, what are the expectations from the weekend on this track?
Max Verstappen: I have never raced in Mugello, but recently I drove on this track – and I really liked it.
I must say that the Mugello track is unlike any other on the calendar, Formula 1 cars will pass it really fast – and this must be taken into account. Overtaking will not be easy, but the driving experience is guaranteed to be great – and I look forward to experiencing it.
Q: What are the main difficulties of the track in Mugello?
Max Verstappen: The tires will have the hardest part – as always on highways in hot weather. It is very interesting to see how everyone will cope this weekend without preliminary preparation and information about the track. A great challenge for teams and riders!
The engineers have already done a lot of work on the simulator, we did everything we could, but in training there is a lot to be done. Friday workouts will be especially important this time.
Question: What section of the track do you think is the best?
Max Verstappen: All high-speed corners, especially the first and second, which we will pass with gas to the floor. I have no experience of performing on this track, I also have to adapt, but I like to solve new problems. It will be fast and very cool, I hope the weekend will end better for us than the last one.
