Ravensburger expanding Marvel universe with new game.
Ravensburger will be expanding its Marvel universe with a brand new Marvel Villainous “expandalone game,” Marvel Villainous: Twisted Ambitions. This game will feature Doctor Octopus, Titania, and Kang the Conquerer as the villains, each with their own goals and win conditions. Doctor Octopus needs to complete five Schemes, Titania needs to gain strength to become Empowered and defeat She-Hulk, and Kang uses Variants to appear in other Villain decks with the aim of conquering four locations in other Villain Domains with Robot Duplicates. Pre-orders for this game will be available starting on February 3rd, and the Target version will come with an exclusive “chrome” Doctor Octopus mover.
ComicBook.com had the chance to speak with Mike Mulvihill, Game Development Manager at Ravensburger North America about the next Marvel Villainous expansion and the unique challenges that come with building a game around such iconic villains. Mulvihill explained that the selection of these three villains was based on their unique silhouette and the fact that they all have some relation to New York and Spider-Man. He also discussed the differences between Disney/Star Wars and Marvel Villainous, which he said is the most competitive version.
When designing the game, Mulvihill and his team strived to create new types of mechanics and Objectives that will challenge the players. The Common Fate deck was designed to push the interactivity of the game, and the Targeted Event cards were created to fit with the theme of the three villains. Mulvihill also discussed the challenges of designing the shared universe aspect of Marvel Villainous and the unexpected heroes that show up in the new Fate cards.
Overall, Marvel Villainous: Twisted Ambitions is sure to be a challenging and rewarding game for fans of the Marvel universe. With three iconic villains and a unique story, this game offers a unique and immersive experience. The game is set to be released later this year, so keep an eye out for it!
