In June, Lewis Hamilton announced the creation of an initiative called the Hamilton Commission, which aims to create the conditions for the entry of talented people of different races into motorsport.
The day before, the composition of the Commission of 14 people was announced. It was chaired by Lewis Hamilton and the Royal Academy of Engineering Executive Director Hayatun Sillam.
The Commission includes former McLaren team leader Martin Whitmarsh. After 25 years at McLaren, Whitmarsh retired from motorsport to focus on sailing in America’s Cup, but then returned as a consultant to the Formula E Board of Directors.
