Manchester City suffered a hard defeat in the Premier League on Sunday, despite a goal from Nathan Aké. The team of trainer Josep Guardiola lost 2-5 to Leicester City, partly due to a hat-trick by Jamie Vardy. Earlier in the day, Tottenham Hotspur lost points against Newcastle United (1-1).

City still took a 1-0 lead at the Etihad Stadium by a goal in the fourth minute from Riyad Mahrez, who played at Leicester until 2018. Then Vardy claimed a leading role with three goals in a row. In the 37th and 58th minute, the striker used a penalty kick and in between he was accurate on a pass from Timothy Castagne.
Thirteen minutes before time, substitute James Maddison made the 1-4 on behalf of Leicester and thus decided the game, although two more goals were scored. Ak, é who had a starting place, headed in a corner (2-4) and made his first goal for City. After that, Leicester received a penalty and because Vardy had already been substituted, Youri Tielemans went behind the ball. The Belgian made no mistake (2-5).
Because of the defeat, City only has three points after three rounds. Leicester is still clear and together with Everton is in the lead with nine points.
Tottenham looked at home against Newcaste on their way to a victory, but it still went wrong in injury time. After the intervention of the VAR, Newcastle got a penalty kick from which the 1-1 fell. The VAR drew the referee’s attention to a handball from Eric Dier in the third minute of injury time. From eleven meters, Callum Wilson shot in the equalizer.
The opening goal in London was scored after 25 minutes by Lucas Moura. The Brazilian tapped a low cross from Harry Kane at the far post.
Substitute Steven Bergwijn, who replaced Son Heung-min after the break, was still close to 2-0 with a volley, but his bet was turned by Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow. The returned Gareth Bale was still missing from the match selection with a knee injury.
Due to the draw, both clubs are in the middle of the Premier League with four points from three duels. Leeds United booked its second victory of the Premier League season on Sunday. Patrick Bamford scored the only goal (0-1) in the 88th minute when visiting Sheffield United.
