British girl Madeleine McCannin a German man suspected of murder is still in prison after the turn of the year.
The German federal court dismissed it on Friday Christian Brücknerin an appeal against the rape conviction he received. Brückner was sentenced in December last year to seven years in prison for raping a 72-year-old woman.
Enforcement of the judgment will begin in January, when Brückner’s previous judgment ends. He is currently sitting in jail for a drug offense. Brückner had also previously applied for an early termination of the drug sentence, so in principle he could have soon got to his feet if the rape sentence had been overturned.
A strange incident occurred alongside the court rumba when it was reported on Tuesday that Brückner was injured in the middle of the trial. Authorities have been silent about the cause of the injury, but the German magazine Zeit has received more information about the case.
According to Zeit, Brückner broke two of his ribs after falling to the prisoner’s wooden bed. He had lost his balance as the prison guards kicked his feet in his pool.
The situation had been preceded by a scene of rage in Brückner after the guards banned him from smoking tobacco. Fascinated by this, the man threw yogurt on Selli’s walls and clogged it with paper from the toilet bowl. The injury occurred after the guards intervened in the flare.
Brückner’s rape and drug convictions are not related to the ongoing investigation into McCann’s disappearance. McCann disappeared in May 2007 in Praia da Luz, Portugal. German prosecutors said in June they suspected Brückner of killing the girl.
