The situation in nursing homes in Madrid is “quite controlled”, in the opinion of the Minister of Social Policies, Alberto Reyero, which has given this Monday data on infections in these facilities in the Madrid Assembly. Specifically, it has pointed out that there are 71 residences with Covid cases at present, of which in eight there are more than ten cases.
The number of currently infected in residences is 360 people, many of whom are asymptomatic. Since June 22, there have been 51 deaths in residences, and of them, 33 have occurred so far in September, according to the data provided by the director.
In 35 Madrid residences -of the more than 450 that exist-, the family visits are currently suspended. Although the data does not seem bad to Reyero, he has indicated that they continue to worry and maintain attention on the evolution of the pandemic in these residences.
Regarding the degree of immunity registered by these facilities, there is a large percentage that have a high immunity – between 80 and 70 percent – and a medium – from 55 to 70 percent. However, Reyero acknowledges that they have located some residences with low immunity, probably, he points out, because they hardly suffered from coronavirus cases during the first wave of the pandemic.
Specifically, he has cited two residences, that of Torrelaguna, with 7.25 percent immunity, and that of San José, with 3.13 percent.
