MacBook Pro M2 models have faster SSD write speeds, tests show.

New MacBook Pros with M2 Pro/Max chips feature faster SSD write speeds.

The new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros powered by the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips feature faster SSD write speeds compared to their predecessors. Tests and reviews of the new laptops have revealed that the 16-inch MacBook Pro with M2 Pro in a 2TB storage configuration achieved a read speed of 5,372 MBps and a write speed of 6,491 MBps. The 14-inch MacBook Pro with M2 Max scored a read speed of 5,319 MBps and a write speed of 6,402 MBps.

The M2 Pro and M2 Max chips have been praised for their fast performance and longer battery life. The 16-inch MacBook Pro features the longest battery life ever in a Mac, with up to 22 hours. The new chips also offer other features, such as HDMI 2.1 support, which is not available on previous models.

However, it is important to note that the read speeds of the new chips are slightly slower than that of the M1 Pro. Additionally, the base model MacBook Air has significantly slower read and write speeds due to Apple including one less SSD chip in the laptop.
