Now the Italian Football Federation has joined. Several professionals from the University for Foreigners of Perugia are also under suspicion.

After this Tuesday the version began to circulate that Luis Suárez had cheated in the exam he took to obtain Italian nationality, the Prosecutor of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) opened an investigation in parallel with the Guardia di Finanza (Italian financial police).

In this sense, the head of the FIGC prosecutor’s office, Giuseppe Chinè, requested the summary of the investigation from those responsible for the University of Perugia, where the Uruguayan soccer player carried out the process to obtain dual citizenship.

According to the first investigations, the former Barcelona striker would have previously agreed on the questions to obtain the passport and even the score would have been assigned before the test was carried out.

The examination was performed in the University for Foreigners of Perugia, for which the rector Giuliana Grego Bolli is being investigated; the director, Simone Olivieri; Professors Lorenzo Rocca and Stefania Spina; and worker Cinzia Camagna; Although not the Uruguayan player, nor anyone from the Juventus club.

Italian newspapers published this Wednesday that among the wiretaps is a conversation in which Juventus lawyer Maria Turco promises CEO Olivieri before Suárez’s exam that they would contact the university more times.

Conversations between the examiners of the now questioned test also came to light. “It must happen. You cannot spoil a salary of 10 million euros per season by not having the B1. But does not conjugate verbs, only infinitives“says one of the teachers who interviewed Suárez, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

To complete the scene, another of the interlocutors resigned: “Tell me what grade to give him and that’s it.” Phrases are also heard such as “if you do not pass, they put a bomb on us” and “we have prepared you well, you are memorizing part of the exam.”

The lawyer for the rector of the University, David Brunello, assured in an interview published today in the newspaper “La Stampa” that “Luis Suárez’s exam was carried out with regularly and without any favoritism“.

“In relation to the ongoing investigations, the University for Foreigners of Perugia reaffirms the veracity and transparency of the procedures followed for the examination carried out by the soccer player Luis Suárez and trusts that this will be confirmed at the end of the verifications that are in progress ”, they explained from the educational institution in a press release.
