(LSK Women – Avaldsnes 1-3) After dominating Norwegian football for a number of years, LSK has suddenly ended up in an unfamiliar situation. A loss against Avaldsnes means that they are suddenly in arrears in the gold match.
Six years in a row, LSK Women have won the Toppserien, but now the dominance is far from clear. Before the top match against Avaldsnes, it was extremely even at the top. Four teams are fighting for the gold, only three points separate them.
At the top is Vålerenga, together with Avaldsnes verdict climbs up the same on points, but with a worse goal difference after the victory over LSK. The point behind follows RBK Women. Then you find LSK two points behind. On Sunday, the other two teams in the gold match, Vålerenga and Rosenborg, will meet.
The yellow-clad men seemed to have taken the seriousness of the opening and created several good opportunities. At first Emilie Haavi dribbled into the box and fired off, but was stopped by goalkeeper Victoria Esson. Shortly afterwards, Justine Vanhaevermaet also tried a shot from close range, but again Esson was in the way.
But on the third it sat. Tonje Pedersen squeezed in from over 20 meters, and sent the ball into the crossbar and in.
After that, LSK got a grip on the match, and seemed to control it in, but on the butt it completely broke and Avaldsnes started a very strong turnaround operation.
Rasheedat Ajibade saw Pedersen’s dream match, and raised it with an equally nice goal from distance. She sent the ball straight to the crossbar, equalizing the quarter before the end. Five minutes later, Vanhaevermaet put an Avaldsnes post in his own goal, before Elise Thorsnes knocked the nail in the coffin to 3-1.
After this round, there are only three matches left for each of the teams. Already in the next round, LSK will have the opportunity for revenge when Vålerenga’s turn.
