The community of El Sereno is reeling after 17-year-old Xavier Daniel Chavarina, a Wilson High School student, was fatally stabbed while waiting for his family to pick him up last Friday. The attack appears to have been random, and may have been carried out by the same suspect who was responsible for another stabbing just hours later in the same area, according to LAPD. Witnesses reported seeing a male suspect get out of a dark SUV and walk across a parking lot, heading straight for Xavier. He repeatedly stabbed the teen in the back before fleeing the scene. Xavier managed to make it to a nearby King Torta shop and asked for help before collapsing on the floor. Loved ones are remembering him as a hardworking, straight-A student who was waiting for his mother on the sidewalk when he was attacked. The victim’s family is urging authorities and the public to help find the killer before he strikes again. The suspect is described as a Hispanic man with long black hair, a long beard, and wearing a long black jacket, black pants, black shoes, and a black baseball hat with white writing. He was driving a black-colored 1996-2001 Honda CR-V SUV. Parents in the area are now concerned for their children’s safety, and anyone with information is urged to call the LAPD.
