Liverpool got one point from the squatter against Manchester City on Sunday. The game between the champion and the number two last season ended in 1-1. Leicester City took the lead by beating Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0.
Vardy shoots Leicester into the lead
Liverpool could not complain with a draw against ailing Manchester City. Kevin De Bruyne got the chance to make it 2-1 from a penalty just before half time, but the Belgian pushed the ball wide.
Fifteen minutes before the end, Mohamed Salah had been more careful with his opportunity. The Egyptian hit from the spot after his teammate Sadio Mané had crashed.
Liverpool could enjoy the lead for fifteen minutes. Gabriel Jesus then equalized after a smooth attack. After De Bruyne’s miss, the chances in the second half were scarce.
Georginio Wijnaldum played the entire match at Liverpool. Nathan Aké stayed on the bench at Manchester City.

Leicester City’s only goal came from the penalty spot. Jamie Vardy used a penalty. He saw a second penalty kick being turned by Wolverhampton goalkeeper Rui Patrício.
Leicester City now has eighteen points after eight matches and that is one point more than Tottenham Hotspur, which took three points thanks to Harry Kane when visiting West Brom (0-1), and Liverpool. Manchester City is only eleventh.
Tottenham Hotspur’s winning goal came in the 88th minute. After a cross from Matt Doherty, Kane headed the ball just in front of West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone in the far corner. It was the third league victory in a row for Tottenham, where Steven Bergwijn was not in the selection.
