France Football ranked them as contenders to be the best left and right winger in history, respectively. The eleven winners will be announced on December 17.
After having published the names of the best goalkeepers, defenders and midfielders, France Football announced on Monday the list of candidates for the best forward of the Ballon d’Or Dream Team. And there he is, obviously, Lionel Messi.
With the suspension of the 2020 Ballon d’Or, it was decided to create this prestigious award that will be given to the best team of all time, with luxury nominees in each of the positions.
How could it be otherwise, Messi is a candidate as the best right winger and appears as a favorite in the position. Besides the Argentine “10”, there are other figures such as David Beckham, George Best, Samuel Eto’o, Luis Figo, Garrincha, Jairzinho, Kevin Keegan, Stanley Matthews and Arjen Robben.
On the other side of the lead, the Argentine’s eternal rival, Cristiano Ronaldo, was nominated for best left winger along with Rivaldo, Ryan Giggs, Oleg Blokhine, Dragan Dzajic, Thierry Henry, Roberto Rivelino, Ronaldinho and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
As for the center-forwards, the candidates are Dennis Bergkamp, Johan Cruyff, Gerd Müller, Romario, Ronaldo, Kenny Daglish, Eusebio, Van Basten, Sandor Kocsis and George Weah.
France Football’s ideal eleven will be announced on December 17, with the votes of 170 correspondents around the world. Thus, what will be a legendary team made up of the best players of all time will be chosen: the Dream Team.
