Red Bull youth program participant Liam Lawson ended the Formula 3 season with a victory in Mugello, but was only fifth in the championship.
Red Bull always expects only victories from their drivers, the 18-year-old New Zealander is disappointed and is waiting for Helmut Marko’s decision to continue his career …
Liam Lawson: “It’s great to end the season with a win, but I would be lying by saying that I am not disappointed with the result. The title was quite achievable – that was the task for the season. There have been too many minor problems, but that cannot be an excuse. In some races, we were simply unlucky, some factors we could not control, but there were those when everything was under control, and we could not achieve the maximum.
Sometimes you need to look back. Now I understand that we could have had a better season. But it’s nice that it ended in victory. It showed what we are capable of. I was in the lead from start to finish.
Now I am waiting for Red Bull’s decision. They will decide which option is best for me. I hope I will find out very soon. “
