Lewis Hamilton, broken by tears: ‘Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t fulfill your dreams’

The 35-year-old Englishman was very excited after winning the seventh title, with which he equaled Schumacher’s record.

It was a historic Sunday for Formula 1 and the great protagonist, Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), was overcome by emotion. The Briton mathematically secured his seventh Formula One title – equaling the record of German Michael Schumacher – by winning the Turkish Grand Prix and in his remarks after the race, broken for the moment by emotion, he showed his gratitude to his “team” and his “family” at Istanbul Park, where he encouraged the boys to “pursue their dreams”.

The 35-year-old Hamilton, who celebrated his first title in 2008 with McLaren, clinched his seventh world title on Sunday, the sixth of the last seven years with Mercedes, after putting on a great display in the Turkish race.

After starting sixth, he scored his tenth hit of the year, raising his own all-time record for premier-class victories to 94.

“I have no words to express what I feel, but I have to start by thanking everyone in the team, those who are here and those who are in the factory. Without this team I would not have been able to achieve anything,” said Hamilton .

The Briton, who in recent remarks did not rule out ending his career at the end of this season, added: “It’s been a great journey. And I want to thank you all.”

Obviously, he did not want to leave out his affections. “I am also very grateful to my family and all the help they always gave me, especially when I was little,” said the English star.

“As a child you have dreams and you see that Formula One is very far away. But it is important that all children pursue their dreams, that they work hard to achieve them, because if they do, their dreams can come true. Let no one tell them no they can fulfill their dreams, “Hamilton tearfully declared.
