Soon it will be the first anniversary of her son’s death. Marianne Behn lost her Ari Behn, who took his own life. On Instagram, the Norwegian now publishes touching lines that get under your skin.

It was on December 25, 2019 that Ari Behn committed suicide. A shock to his entire family. In addition to his daughters Maud Angelica, 17, Leah Isadora, 15, and Emma Tallulah, twelve, whom he has with Norway’s Princess Märtha Louise, 49, he also left his mother Marianne and father Olav. How bad it is for the author and therapist today to have to live without her son, brings her to the point in a letter she publishes on Instagram.

Ari Behn’s mother misses everything about him

She writes her emotional words to a portrait of Ari Behn, which begins with: “My dear son”.

“Today is All Saints’ Day, a day when the veil is thinner between this world and the others. The day when you all come closer to us from the other side who live here.” It is apparently the holiday that makes the pain particularly present for her. Then Marianne writes about everything she valued and loved about her son and now sorely misses. They are words of appreciation and understanding that never dry your eyes:

Ari, I miss your wisdom, I miss your strength, I miss your creativity and your laughter. I miss your voice and our conversations all the time our lifelines were intertwined. You have been such a good companion.

Marianne understands her son’s decision

And as much as she misses him here now, so much has she apparently made her peace with Ari’s decision to end his life. “It is we who were close to your heart, who really know what troubles and burdens you have carried on your shoulders for so long, Ari … Until the vessel overflowed …”

She closes her heartbreaking words with a declaration of love, pledging to love her son for all eternity.

Divorce broke him

Just recently Marianne spoke in an interview with “Se og Hör” about how much the loss still hurts her. She still cannot understand what really happened on December 25, 2019. In the interview, she indicated that it was probably the divorce from Princess Märtha Louise that finally pulled the floor from under Ari’s feet. “It was sad,” she said and added: “His path of suffering probably began that autumn.”
