Leicester City lost points in the Premier League for the first time this season in the fourth round on Sunday. The 2016 champion lost well in-house to West Ham United: 0-3. Southampton was 2-0 too strong for West Bromwich Albion.
West Ham United took the lead against Leicester within fifteen minutes in the empty King Power Stadium via Michail Antonio’s second league goal. The Spaniard Pablo Fornals increased the lead ten minutes before half time to 0-2 and in the final phase Jarrod Bowen signed for the final score.
Leicester City and top scorer Jamie Vardy (five goals in the first three games) barely became dangerous against the side of West Ham assistant Alan Irvine, who once again took over the duties of David Moyes. The manager was tested positive for COVID-19 for two weeks.
Harvey Barnes seemed to give Leicester an honorary goal in the 93rd minute, but the goal was disallowed because the VAR saw the VAR offside from principal Vardy.
Leicester had started the Premier League season with victories over West Bromwich Albion (0-3), Burnley (4-2) and Manchester City (2-5). Only Everton (twelve points from four matches) and Liverpool (nine points from three matches) are now clear in England.
Southampton climbed to tenth place with the second win of the season. Ralph Hasenhüttl’s team was 2-0 too strong for West Bromwich Albion due to hits by Moussa Djenepo and Oriol Romeu.
