Lazio has had a difficult 2-1 victory over Torino. After the team from Rome had to make up for a deficit against Fiorentina (2-1) last weekend, it also quickly faced a goal against Turin (the city of competitor Juventus).
Referee Davide Massa pointed to the spot in the fifth minute, after Nicolas N’Koulou lashed out against Ciro Immobile. Torino striker Andrea Belotti sent Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha the wrong way from 11 meters and scored for the third game in a row.
Lazio did put pressure on Torino in the remainder of the first half, but the equalizer failed to materialize. The biggest chance on the number two side of Serie A was for Immobile. The attacker released himself well, but his bet flew over the goal.
Soon in the second half, the visitors came to the same level. Luis Alberto sent Immobile into the depths and the Italian pushed the ball into the long corner past goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu.
Marco Parolo took care of the winning goal. After a nice action by substitute Jordan Lukaku, the ball entered the penalty area. Sirigu was able to save on an initial bet, but the Lazio captain’s shot, which was still touched on the way, left the goalkeeper without a chance.
Because of the win, Lazio remains in the trail of leader Juventus. The club from Turin will play against Genoa tonight and can bring the lead back to four points if they win.
