A late goal by De Graafschap on Friday evening in the Kitchen Champion Division ensured that SC Cambuur is not yet certain of the first period title. The Doetinchemmers won 2-1 against Jong PSV at the last minute, so that they can theoretically pass the Frisians. NAC Breda lost the top match at Almere City 2-0.

Cambuur was 3-0 too strong for Roda JC at home thanks to goals from Robert Mühren, Giovanni Korte and Jarchinio Antonia. The home team played with ten men from the 72nd minute due to a second yellow card for Mitchel Paulissen.
With that result, Cambuur seemed on its way to the first period title, because competitor De Graafschap was on its way to lose points against Young PSV. Ralf Seuntjens, however, made the winning goal for coach Mike Snoei deep in injury time, after he had previously used a penalty for the home team.
If De Graafschap had not won, Cambuur would have been certain of the first period title. The Achterhoekers can still overtake the club from Leeuwarden, because they have played three points less and a game less. They do have to win the make-up game with NAC with at least eighteen goals difference.

In Flevoland, Elias Sørensen and Faris Hammouti gave Almere City the three points against NAC. Coach Maurice Steijn was back on the bench for the first time since his corona infection.
Cambuur is one point ahead of Almere City, which takes over the second place from NAC and has played as many games as the leader. The Breda team dropped to fourth place and have three points less than the Flevolanders, but also played a game less.
Earlier in the evening FC Volendam won 7-1 against FC Dordrecht. Samuele Mulattieri and Derry John Murkin both scored twice for the team of coach Wim Jonk, which won with big figures for the third time in a row.
Young Ajax also recorded a big victory against MVV: 1-5. Jérôme Deom gave the Limburgers the lead, after which Max de Waal, Devyne Rensch, Nordin Musampa, Giovanni and Naci Ünüvar were accurate for the team from Amsterdam.
