Chelsea coach Frank Lampard is full of praise for Hakim Ziyech after his goal in the Champions League match against FK Krasnodar (0-4 win). The former Ajax player livened up his basic debut for the Londoners on Wednesday with a goal.
‘He brought peace to the team’
“I think his performance was very good when you consider that he hasn’t played a full game since the competition in the Netherlands was shut down”, Lampard Ziyech complimented at his press conference.
The 27-year-old Moroccan made the 0-3 for Chelsea in Krasnodar ten minutes before the end. He was served by Timo Werner, played free in the box and pushed the ball between two defenders in the right corner.
Ziyech had to postpone his debut for Chelsea for a month due to a knee injury. Because of this, it also took a while before Lampard considered the midfielder fit enough to participate from kick-off. After a few raids, he finally made his basic debut for ‘The Blues’ against Krasnodar.
“It was frustrating that he couldn’t start because of his injury,” said Lampard. “He is a player with enormous qualities and personality. We saw the first glimpses of that today. He is only getting better.”

The English coach was not only enthusiastic about Ziyech’s goal, but also about his game in general. “He brought a lot of quality and peace to the team. Maybe people had forgotten him a bit, because we already got him in January and he missed the start of the season. But tonight he certainly showed that he is there.”
In addition to Ziyech, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Timo Werner (penalty kick) and Christian Pulisic were accurate for Chelsea, which leads group E with four points from two games.
