Sam Lammers scored his first goal for Atalanta in the Serie A game with Cagliari on Sunday. The 23-year-old Dutchman made the last goal in the 5-2 victory of his team in a very nice way.
Lammers, who came over from PSV for about 10 million euros last month, was also a substitute in his third game for Atalanta. He got a little more playing time (25 minutes) against Cagliari and he took full advantage of that.
The striker received the ball on the right side of the penalty area ten minutes before time. After a double pair of scissors, he cut his opponent with a drag movement with the left, after which he hit hard and low with the right in the far corner.
Lammers is after Marten de Roon and Hans Hateboer already the third Dutchman to score for Atalanta in the still early season. It is the first time that a Serie A club has three Dutch goalscorers since the golden AC Milan of Marco van Basten, Frank Rijkaard and Ruud Gullit in the 1992/1993 season.
Atalanta was almost certain of the three points by four goals in the first 42 minutes for Lammers’ hit. Luis Muriel, captain Alejandro Gómez, Mario Pasalic and Duvan Zapata found it just before the home team. Diego Godín (1-1) and João Pedro (4-2) scored against on behalf of Cagliari.
Atalanta is still without losing points in Serie A. The revelation of last season already scored thirteen times in the first three matches.
