Teun Koopmeiners is furious after AZ’s fifth draw in a row in the Eredivisie. The Alkmaarders also gave away a lead on Sunday at ADO Den Haag: 2-2.
‘It remains the same tune’
“We are scandalous with our own chances, then you get this”, Koopmeiners grumbled after the match. FOX Sports. “We really have to look in the mirror how we deal with this.”
AZ took the lead twice in The Hague via goals from Albert Gudmundsson and Jesper Karlsson. The Alkmaarders seemed on their way to the first victory of the season, but in the 87th minute it went wrong again due to a hit by Michiel Kramer.
“Nobody does it on purpose, but it is also a matter of professionalism to shoot the balls”, Koopmeiners mourned. “We miss open goal and we make strange actions at unnecessary moments. That really is not possible.”

It was the fourth time in a row that AZ has relinquished a lead in the Eredivisie. Earlier, Fortuna Sittard (3-3), Sparta Rotterdam (4-4) and VVV-Venlo (2-2) came back from beaten position against the team of trainer Arne Slot.
“It was not businesslike and mature enough to win a victory,” the captain referred to the game against ADO. “It’s a cliché, but if you don’t shoot it yourself, the goal will fall on the other side. It’s the same tune.”
Due to the mediocre start to the season, AZ can be found in tenth place with five points, although the team still has a game credit. Against ADO, the North Hollanders also missed fifteen players who were infected with the corona virus.
